For me, most of it was spent
sanding, caulking and painting. Wow, I did not realize how much woodwork
is in this 1907 beauty. Also, my plan of giving her a makeover, with
cleaning and painting, soon became plastic surgery. Replacing sinks
caused pipes to break, sheet rocking called for crown molding and removing old
tile and carpet required new pine and hardwood. Then, my wonderful
husband decided he did not, and never had, liked the nearly flat patio roof his
dad had put up several years ago. So down came the boards and metal and up went
a gabled, shingled roof to match the house. This project was like taking off an
arm and putting it back. Only now the roof is with keeping of the house and
looks great.
